3 Ways to Get Rid of Termites From Your Home
Wooden furniture, of course, is a wonderful addition to your home’s décor and can provide a cozy ambiance for guests. However, this type of material is always at risk, particularly when it comes to termites. These little insects can do irreversible damage to wooden furniture and even get into the framing of the walls. But there are ways to fight back, and we are going to explain three techniques for solving this problem.
Luckily, if you are not sure if you have termites, it is pretty easy to check if they are around. Just take a look at all the wooden surfaces of your furniture to see if some little holes have formed. If so, these are most likely the tunnels that termites burrow into and call home. So, if you come upon these malformations in your furniture, it is time to act.
1. Orange Oil
Our first method involves using orange oil, a natural termite repellant. All we need to do is apply the orange oil to areas where we find the termites’ little tunnels. Make sure to get the oil inside each individual hole. With the presence of the oil, the wood becomes very unappetizing as a food source for the termites, and they will inevitably end up starving.
2. White Wine Vinegar and Lemon
Another natural solution to getting rid of termites is white wine vinegar and lemon. To carry out this method, we will begin by making a solution of the two ingredients. Simply pour half a cup of vinegar and half a cup of lemon juice into a spray bottle. Shake up the liquid and spray along the affected areas of your furniture. To be safe, repeat this process at least twice a day for about two weeks.
3. Boric Acid
Our third product for eliminating termites is boric acid. Boric acid will take care of the problem without a doubt, as it immediately damages the termite’s nervous system upon contact. After applying the boric acid, every termite in the area will be long gone in no time.
