The perfect deodorizer for pillows and blankets
As winter approaches, the time will eventually come when we need to go to the closet and pull out our extra blankets and pillows to sleep comfortably. But while your linens have been sitting in there all summer, they most likely have developed a rather stale and unpleasant odor. Luckily, there is a simple way to create a homemade deodorizer to get your bedding smelling clean and fresh again.
When faced with the strange smell coming from pillows and duvet covers, it is usually tempting just to throw these items into the washing machine. However, after the laundry cycle, it can be quite difficult to get the material dry again. Instead, it can save a lot of time and effort to apply a natural deodorizer.
Freshening up your pillows and duvets
The first thing we need to do to make our homemade deodorizer is to get a hold of some baking soda, a product known for its ability to freshen the air. Now combine 2 tablespoons of the baking soda with about 500ml of water. You can also add some essential oil if you like. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and the solution is ready to go.
Now that the solution is ready, we can pour it into a clean spray bottle. Spray the deodorizer over all the surfaces of your pillows and blankets then let them dry. You should notice that drying times are much shorter than if we had used the washing machine.
Another natural option for creating a deodorizer is white wine vinegar. Vinegar, like baking soda, also has a reputation for its cleansing properties. Like before, we will start with 500ml water and then add 100ml of the white wine vinegar and some essential oil if you like. Fill up a spray bottle with the liquid and apply. You can also use any extra deodorizer on your couches and chairs.
