One towel is all you need to make your silverware appear new again
A lot of us have been guilty of getting jealous when it comes to a friend’s glistening silverware. We know who we are, wishing that we could get our silverware to shine like that! So today we are going to talk about a traditional method for getting silverware to sparkle with just a single towel.
Using the towel technique with your silverware
We are going to need the following items:
- A small, soft towel
- Baking soda
- Marseille soap
Begin by soaking your towel and then wringing it out just enough so that it is damp, but not dripping wet. Next, lay the towel out on a flat surface and rub it all over with your Marseille soap. If you have liquid soap, you just need a use a couple of drops. Now sprinkle the baking soda all around the towel, and we are ready to treat our silverware.
First, layout your silverware on one half of the towel. This can also include silver watches, jewelry, and anything that has a silver finish. Now, lay the other half of your towel over your silver items. After making sure there is good contact on both sides, let everything sit for about 4 hours. Once enough time has based, check that any oxidation is now gone and start gently rubbing each individual item with your towel. This is where you will see the magic happen.
This method is so effective due to the lightly abrasive qualities of the baking soda and the cleaning properties of Marseille soap, making surfaces appear like new.
Lastly, we want to remind you to use light and delicate towel for this application, as we don’t want to cause any permanent marring. And the towel size will depend on how much you want to polish your silverware. You should be happy to find out that this is a downhill battle to achieve fantastic results.
