Getting rid of limescale and water stains from the shower

The tile in your shower is continuously exposed to water, making the formation of limescale inevitable. Getting rid of stains in the shower can be a constant battle, and simple cleaning is often not enough to do the job.

Luckily, there are few techniques that we can use to make life a little easier. We can make use of natural products that will make our showers clean and shiny, while disinfecting surfaces at the same time. Here’s how it’s done.

Vinegar

Vinegar is famous for its anti-limescale properties, and it also comes in handy for cleaning and polishing steel. You just need to add about half a glass vinegar to a bucket of hot water. Next, soak a sponge with the mixture and gently rub it across the tile. Make sure to thoroughly rinse and dry the surface because any remaining droplets can also form stains.

If you are short on time, simply adding two teaspoons of vinegar directly onto the sponge will suffice. Just rub the damp sponge across the glass until the dirt is removed. Remember, it is not advisable to use this remedy if your shower is made from marble or natural stone.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is another useful option. First you must form a paste mixing four tablespoons of baking soda with a little bit of  water. It is ideal to have a mixture that is not too thick and absent of any lumps. Put the mixture on a non-abrasive sponge and scrub. Finally, rinse and dry to complete the job.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is another everyday item useful for eliminating limescale stains. First you must extract the juice from your lemon and strain it. Next, add the juice to a bowl of hot water. Now you can soak the sponge and scrub.

Next, you should use a microfiber cloth to dry the surface thoroughly. Once again, this remedy is not recommended for marble or natural stone surfaces.

Marseille Soap

Known for its gentle properties, Marseille soap is also quite useful for this type of cleaning. Simply apply a spoonful of the product on a sponge and wipe it gently along the glass. If you are dealing with a more stubborn stain, then you can also add a little bit of baking soda. Finally, always remember to rinse and dry well when you are done.
