You can clean your kitchen cloths and hand towels simply by using the microwave – here’s how
Hand towels are a must in any kitchen for drying our hands, cleaning surfaces, and drying the dishes. The only thing, these hand towels tend to become soiled quite quickly, making them carriers of germs and mold. Not to mention they also start to produce a terrible smell. Putting your hand towels through the washing machine does not always get the job done, but here we have a method that comes recommended by many homemakers.
Cleaning hand towels using the microwave method
So obviously we are going to be using a microwave for this cleaning method. And in addition to this very practical appliance, we will also need a few other things:
- Marseille soap
- 2 tablespoons of citric acid
- 50ml of water
Now that we have our ingredients, we can get started. Begin by lightly dampening the towel with water, then rub it with your Marseille soap. Next, leave the towel to sit for a few minutes so the fibers can react with the soap. After a few minutes, place the towel in a plastic bag. In the bag we will create a cleaning solution inside by adding our measure of citric acid.
Once your solution is ready, leave the bag slightly open and place it in your microwave. Set the timer to two minutes and wait. Once done, use a pair of tweezers or pliers to remove the towel because it is going to be very hot. Place the towel now in cool water so that the remaining dirt can be fully removed. After a few minutes, take the towel out to dry.
Once the towel has dried, you will be amazed at how clean and fresh your towel has become. Also, remember that you can use this same trick to clean sponges and even your dishes if you don’t have any soap on hand.
