How to Clean the Dishwasher Filter with Vinegar and Baking Soda
It is now clear: the elixir for the longevity of our household appliances lies in meticulous care. When it comes to maintaining a dishwasher, one crucial aspect you cannot overlook is the filter. In fact, the secret to the correct functioning of this very useful tool is the efficiency of the individual parts.
Maintaining the efficiency of each part ensures spotless cleaning of the items in the dishwasher and preserves the heating elements, preventing them from overworking and leading to increased energy consumption. So, this trick is helpful in making your glasses shine and making your wallet smile!
Vinegar and baking soda: all-natural options
The dishwasher filter accumulates various residues that potentially cause obstruction and malfunction: ranging from food particles to soap remnants and grease, everything can be a problem. Precisely for this reason, meticulous and regular cleaning is essential. All you need for this task is a toothbrush and some common kitchen ingredients.
Various remedies can be used, such as white wine vinegar or lemon juice. In both cases, simply fill a basin with hot water and an equal part of your chosen natural detergent. Let the filter soak in this solution for at least 30 minutes.
At the end of the indicated time, you will need to rinse the filter under running water and reposition it appropriately. Sodium bicarbonate is also beneficial. Create a mixture by combining 150 g of baking soda with 200 ml of hot water and a spoonful of dishwashing detergent. You will then have to mix until a thick paste forms, and then apply this paste to the filter, rubbing it with a sponge or toothbrush.
An important reminder is always to rinse the filter thoroughly before putting it back into the dishwasher. Even residues from natural detergents can potentially lead to malfunctions! If you don’t have any at home, replacing baking soda with coarse salt is possible using the same methods.
