Just two spoons in the washing machine for perfect laundry! Set at 40°C…
The topic of climate change has become more and more of an issue in the public forum recently. And from these discussions, the idea of using more eco-friendly laundry habits has emerged, as they can be much less harmful to the environment. We also have ways of making natural detergents, also better for the environment, that will still get clothes just clean as before.
In this article, we will explain how to make your own detergent, fabric softener, and even a descaling agent. Just by following a few steps will allow you to clean your clothes in an eco-friendly way.
Detergent
In order to create your own natural detergent, you need to use two tablespoons of Marseille soap, sodium carbonate, and baking soda. The last ingredient acts as a bleach substitute, and it can be used at temperatures up to 30°C. Now, just mix up your ingredients and you are ready to use this creation for your next load of laundry.
Fabric softener
If want your clothes coming out soft and delicate, then you will probably want to also make your own fabric softener. For this we will need 100 grams of citric acid diluted with water to produce 1 liter of the solution. Now just add it to your laundry like you normally would. Keep in mind that it may not be necessary if you are already using a natural detergent.
Descaling agent
Lastly, to make a natural agent to get rid of the limescale in your washing machine, you will need some sodium citrate. To make our agent we first need a glass or steel container. In the container mix 200g of citric acid, 350g of bicarbonate, and 750ml of water. Add each ingredient slowly in order to avoid any chemical biproducts. Now you have a product for the cleaning and maintenance of your washing machine that won’t have a negative effect on the environment.
