Natural Scrub for Dry and Cracked Heels
We often find ourselves dealing with dry and cracked heels. But why do heels dry out, and what can we do to keep them smooth and hydrated? Today, we will prepare a scrub with natural ingredients to address the issue of cracked heels.
Cracked heels develop when the skin in the heel area becomes dry and thickened, leading to cracks and fissures. Several factors contribute to dry and thickened skin, including:
- Exposure to dry, cold air can dehydrate your skin, making it more susceptible to cracks.
- Cleaning products contribute to the problem of dry and cracked heels. Some products contain harsh chemicals that strip the skin of natural oils, leading to dryness and cracking.
- Poor-quality footwear causes this problem, as it does not allow the feet to breathe properly.
- Posture also plays a role in heel health. Incorrect posture that doesn’t allow for the proper distribution of weight can place an added burden on the heels.
Natural scrub for cracked heels
To effectively address the issue of dry and cracked heels, you can use a natural scrub. Let’s prepare it. You will need: 30 grams of coarse sea salt, 1 ripe banana (or alternatively, some avocado pulp), and 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix well until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
Soak your feet in a basin of warm water for 5 minutes to soften the skin. Then, gently use a pumice stone to remove dead skin cells from your heels.
Apply the scrub to your heels, cover with a towel, and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. If you apply this scrub to your heels every 5 days, you can effectively address the problem of cracked heels.
To prevent this condition, always try to keep your heels hydrated. Before going to sleep, apply a moisturizing cream and wear socks to allow the heels to absorb the cream overnight.
