Why put bay leaves under the bed?
Everyone knows that bay leaves emit a very pleasant scent, and it is even common to use them for incense. But oddly enough, this has nothing to do with why we put them under the bed. Instead, it is believed that leaving the bay leaves under your bed will provide luck in the future. The idea of life leading to wealth and prosperity is nice, but there are a few rules to follow before this tradition can work for you.
First, the leaves need to be placed in a well-sealed bottle of water. Next, leave the bottle in a discrete location in your house. One of the more logical places could be under the bed, but you can also choose a different place, such as behind a piece of furniture. At any rate, we must not forget about the bottle because it can’t be left for too long, otherwise the water will starting producing a foul odor.
Obviously, there is no scientific evidence to back up this custom. However, if you are going through a period in which you are a little down on your luck, why not give this little superstition a try? What do you have to lose?
