Just a Teacup and Some Mint Can Help Make Your Home Smell Great
On top of its lovely taste and many uses in the kitchen, the mint plant can also freshen the air inside your house. Mint is a type of plant that is known for being easy to maintain in practically any home garden. It is for this reason that we want to explore how to get the most out of this plant.
The mint plant works especially well as an air freshener because its scent is very distinct and pleasant. But at the same time, it is not too overwhelming or intrusive to the nostrils. Also, mint doesn’t have any real expiration date, so it is possible to enjoy the characteristics of the plant for as long as you like.
Growing Mint Seedlings
To get started with growing your mint plants, we will have to choose a container. This is why we recommend teacups, as they tend to be decorated with a variety of designs and can contribute to the décor of your home.
To turn your teacup into a suitable container for your mint plant, we will have to make some modifications. Place the teacup upside down on a stable surface and drill two small holes through the bottom. This will be necessary for the proper drainage of the soil after watering.
When it comes to choosing a type of soil, you don’t need to be too picky. Any kind of universal-use soil will be just fine. Make sure to remember to pick up some mint seeds when getting your soil, and we can begin planting. Start by adding some soil to your teacup. Next, bury several seeds in the soil, but just deep enough so that there is a thin layer of earth covering them. Make sure to give the soil a little water immediately after planting your seeds.
Caring for Your Plants
Now that the seeds are planted, all we have to do is water the mint occasionally. It will be pretty obvious when to do this because the soil will be visibly dried out. If you are unsure, however, you can always use a toothpick to gauge the amount of moisture in the soil. Lastly, remember to place the teacup pot in a location where it will receive a bit of sunlight during the morning and then remain in the shade for the rest of the day.
