Use This Trick to Clean Dirty Windows After Rain
Rain may be one of the most romantic atmospheric events that nature offers us, but we must recognize that the dirt it leaves behind can be genuinely annoying. Cleaning your windows after rain is crucial to prevent stubborn stains. The cleaning products you use may depend on the materials of your window fixtures. Let’s see specifically.
Aluminum Windows
We know well that windows and doors are not all the same, but let’s start with those which, together with PVC windows, are the most common, namely those in aluminum. Aluminum is a sturdy material that can be cleaned effectively with simple sodium bicarbonate, which also provides a gentle abrasive action. To clean aluminum windows, create a paste by mixing 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate with a few drops of water. Ensure the mixture isn’t too thick because you risk scratching the window. Alternatively, you can use a solution by mixing half a cup of vinegar with some Marseille soap in a basin of hot water. This mixture is particularly effective against limescale. After cleaning, be sure to rinse and dry carefully.
Wooden Windows
Many houses have wooden windows; in this case, the perfect ally is Marseille soap. Add Marseille soap flakes to a basin containing 2 liters of warm water. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the solution over the windows. If you’re dealing with more stubborn stains, white vinegar can be a great alternative. Mix a glass of white vinegar with 2 liters of water. Again, we recommend using a microfiber cloth, and for more challenging spots, consider using a crevice brush.
PVC Windows
PVC windows are commonly found in many homes today. For cleaning inside a basin, we recommend:
- 400 ml of warm water
- 4 tablespoons of white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda
Wipe the mixture over the windows with a microfibre cloth.
